RACE REPORT [Full Report]

Round 1 of the @richenergy @british_mini_bikes kicked off at @teessidekarting in the @motul @ohvale_uk 110 Cup.

Friday Practice

We spent most of Friday on set up, tweaking & adjusting settings to get the best out of the new @pirellimoto tyres we now have to run. Positive day, good to be back in the paddock, plenty of track time.

⏱Saturday

A new format for the BMB is 4 sessions on sat. FP1, FP2, Q1 & Q2. So Q1 in the morning went steady 🅿️5️⃣, Q2 before lunch I got my PB of the weekend & got 🅿️1️⃣ in the session before we breakers for Lunch.

Q1 after dinner I was disappointed as didn’t get close enough to my PB but got a time on the board & was provisional 🅿️3️⃣, Q2 I knew I could push into the 1:21 so they was my aim, which I achieved with a PB 1:21.137 putting me in 🅿️3️⃣ for Race 1.

⏱Qualifying

In Q1 & Q2 I finished 🅿️3️⃣ which is front row on the grid for race 1.

🏁Race 1

Was confident I’d get off to a good start, I got the holeshot straight into 1st by the first corner. @wallace_docherty_racing_88 was on pole bang behind me as I crossed the line for lap 1 but unfortunately Wallace lost the front & went down at quite a fast bit of the circuit, he was ok but the race got red flagged & we had grid up again for a restart. New rules state that fallen riders can’t continue in the race so Wallace unfortunately had to sit out the rest of the race. So we grid up again, I had to go to 🅿️3️⃣ again on the grid despite crossing the line lap 1 in the lead. This time only @charliecunningham67 was in front of me in 🅿️2️⃣. Flag drops & away we go for the restart, got the hole-shot again this time on Charlie & got into 1st by corner 1, could feel & see Charlie just behind me had to defend a few lines in the early laps, & finished the race in 🥇 with only 1s from 🥈 @charliecunningham67 & 🥉 @tr4visracing was 10s behind me. My first ever win on the 110cc MiniGP. I was over the moon rolling on the parade lap as I’d done a PB 1:20.284 then rolled into the new parc fermé interview after the races for podium riders.

🏁Race 2

Starting on Pole, got away from @charliecunningham67 & knew if I stuck in a few 1:20 early in the race I should have a decent gap. Took the flag in 🥇 with a 2.5s gap on

🥈@charliecunningham67 & 🥉Jack @teamdhr4 was 9.2s behind me.

🏁Race 3

Again on Pole still had work to do to shake off @charliecunningham67 who’d also got into the 1:20 now in race 2. So again same tactic I put in a PB 1:20.120 laps & my from the start & then built up a lead, unfortunately @charliecunningham67 had come off so had a nice good lead of 8.5s on 🥈Jack @teamdhr4, & 🥉@tr4visracing was 16.5s behind me.
