Race Report – Pembrey All Seasons Interiors Ltd #JSM90 Class Rich Energy British Mini Bikes Championship

Friday Track Day
First impression was wow this track is a huge track. We had 6 x 20 min sessions was was much longer than usual but was a amazing experience. Got 1.21 lap in the morning but couldn’t get that pace again all day. Was determined to get a 1.21again & on the final session I did it. Ended the day on a positive.

Saturday
First practice session went out & did a 1.20 PB which was very happy with. Second practice set another PB in the early 1.21. Felt really confident going into Qualifying as I was 2nd fastest in class.

⏱ Qualifying put in a 1:20.58 which wasn’t my best of the day but Travis Shaw pipped me dipping into the 1:19 with Jack Hamilton. Qualified P3 on the front row but was on the far right of the grid for the start.

🏁 Race 1
Got a really good start & was just tagging along in 3rd with Jack & Travis for the whole race & managed to get a 1:19 with them but Leo was following closely behind. On the last lap second to last chicane corners Leo come flying past me brilliantly using the slipstream. I was disappointed as there was no last lap board so when I come round the final corner to see the flag being waved I was gutted he pipped past me & I finished 4th

🏁 Race 2
Early morning warm up I put in a 1:19.52 on our first session of the day, was happy & was fastest on track.

The new grid format meant because I did a faster lap time than Leo in Race 1 i was still on the front row in P3. Leo got a great start & took me on the first corner. The whole race I was was fighting with the bike, had a few moments where it was just giving me a huge speed wobbles, I had to drop the pace as it felt terrible to 1:21 for last two laps. I did a 1:19 on lap two & something wasn’t right. Finished in 4th which was good considering the bike was so unsteady.

🏁 Race 3
Come in had to talk with the team on what to do to settle the bike, made a few minor changes. This time I was P4 on the grid got a good start and was in P3 for the fist lap, but Jack Hamilton had a bad start & come up through the positions & then Leo pipped me again. The bike felt better but didn’t feel confident to push into the 1:19 again so was happy it just felt better & come home in 5th.

Was a amazing weekend on a full track. Lots learned, & experienced gained.
